Layne, Defense Leads Black Jerseys to Win in Spring Game

MOSCOW, Idaho – Jack Layne was 17-26 for 186 and two touchdowns and ran for another and caught five passes for 98 yards and a score while the defense recorded 11 sacks to lead the black team, consisting of the Idaho first team players to a 35-21 win over the white team.

The white team was given a 14-0 lead to start the game and stood strong early, forcing the black team into a three-and-out on their first possession, but couldn't capitalize.

The black team then scored on three consecutive possessions, including a short touchdown run for Layne, an 8-yard TD reception from Mason Mini and a 23-yard touchdown reception from Eli Cummings to give the black team a 21-0 lead heading into the half.
